Introduction

The most successful social programs and initiatives are based on the understanding of group behaviour and how they occur. Collaboration is when groups or individuals work or relate together by combining their strengths with an aim of accomplishing a set of goals and objectives. Collaborative behaviour is the behaviour that is practiced by a group of people working and living together. The group has shared practices, values, and traditions. This study therefore selects and critically discusses key theories of collaborative behaviour change, compares and contrasts the difference between essentialists and social constructionist approaches when changing behaviour, critically analyses theoretical principles of collaborative behaviour change, and generates and justifies solutions.
