Description

Unit 7 – Research Interpretations and Conclusions

INTRODUCTION

After collecting, organizing, and analyzing data, you must now begin the task of explaining what it means to the audience and consumers of the research. This requires critical thinking, academic ethics, and knowledge of your subject and methodology.Unit 7 – Research Interpretations and Conclusions.

If the study is quantitative, what are the implications for therapy and future study if the null hypothesis is accepted or rejected? If it is qualitative, what conclusions can be assertively stated about the experience that might have implications for family therapy? Were the research questions answered, and what does that mean? Are there implications that move beyond the original scope of the study?

OBJECTIVES

To successfully complete this learning unit, you will be expected to:

1.      Integrate ethical standards into communicating project interpretations and conclusions.

2.      Demonstrate critical thinking in reporting on analyzed data.

3.      Apply cultural and ethnically informed sensitivity to research conclusions and implications.

4.      Write effectively to a scholarly audience.

LEARNING ACTIVITIES

Studies Readings – Unit 7 – Research Interpretations and Conclusions

Read the following in Royse, Thyer, and Padgett’s Program Evaluation: An Introduction to an Evidence-Based Approach:

    • Chapter 14, “Writing Evaluation Proposals, Reports, and Journal Articles,” pages 379–400.
Use the Library to locate four peer-reviewed journal articles that are relevant to your final project. Use the articles to complete this unit’s “Common Errors of Interpreting Results” discussion.

Discussion 1: 1 page needed with minimum of 250 words and 2 references.
      Common Errors of Interpreting Results
Based on the textbook reading and the four peer-reviewed journal articles you located, list four common errors that researchers make during the interpretive process. Discuss how you will guard against these errors in your study. Be sure to include the electronic resource of each article you located.

Discussion 2: 1 page needed with minimum of 250 words and 2 references.
      Expected Research Conclusions
What will you be able to say about the study you are proposing after your data has been analyzed? Many researchers are tempted to claim conclusions about their study that are not supported by the data they have collected.
Since this project is a proposal, you do not have real data from which to draw conclusions. Therefore, state the conclusions you would expect to find from your proposed study. Also, discuss the limitations of your study. Include the conclusions you cannot make but would suggest more research be done to pursue those unanswered questions.

HERE IS THE COMPLETED PAPER:

Unit 7 Discussion 1: Common Errors of Interpreting Results

One of the common interpretive errors in qualitative data analysis is the tendency to generalize the findings instead of using the qualitative techniques to obtain insights into research particulars (Repisti, 2015).  It is only when a large sample is used that such generalisation can be made but researchers generalize even with a…………

Unit 7 Discussion 2: Expected Research Conclusions

There are different results that are expected in this study. Although there is no data to make conclusions, the study expects to the find a strong relationship between Native Americans and low consumption of addiction counseling.
