Culture and Ethics and Global Management Skills
Globalization, technology advancement and market liberalization have contributed global management, affecging Culture Ethics Global Management Skills. Currently, organization managers are not limited to their local branches but they have expanded to the global branches. As a result, management in the global perspective is affected by external factors such as culture. Global managers are not like local managers because they have mandate over employees with differences in terms of culture, traditions, and working habits. It is therefore not surprising to see organizations which are very successful in the local market failing in the international market because human resource management strategies are not universal but are determined by the prevailing situations.
This article focuses on the indigenous people in Australia working in the dole scheme and how their management is influenced by culture and ethics. Indigenous people living in Australia are very different from other people living in the country because of their cultures and traditions. Therefore, management of indigenous people working in a scheme or an organization requires adequate management skills and experience. This article offers a critical analysis of the case of indigenous people based on global management model by Steers, Nardon, Sanchez-Runde (2013).
Issues discussed and analysed in this article include (but not limited to); challenges faced by global managers when managing international workforce, areas where the global manager should have good understanding of such as situational, cultural, and organizational, global management skills that must be developed and possessed by successful and effective global managers, and the ethical implications indicated in the case study. To ensure that the ideas and arguments raised in this article are well supported, a wide range of sources is used based on global management strategies and models. In this case therefore, global management models such as communication, negotiation, motivation, leadership, and emotional intelligence are discussed in this article to give a clear understanding of managing global workforce.
